### Southern Ocean carbonate system climatology (SOCOML) ### Data downloaded from https://doi.org/10.25921/8c29-rv75 on 2026-09-06 Zhong, W; Wu, Y; Qi, D (2025). Southern Ocean CO2 Machine Learning data products (SOCOML) from 1972-11-20 to 2025-02-23 (NCEI Accession 0309237). NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information. Dataset. https://doi.org/10.25921/8c29-rv75 ### Processing steps: 1. Download SOCOML_Float_GRID_v2025.nc from https://doi.org/10.25921/8c29-rv75 and IBCSO_v2_bed.tif from https://data-seamapantarctica.imas.utas.edu.au/data/terrain/terrain/IBCSO_v2/ 2. Run 02_extract_pH_Ar_byDepthBand.py from cwd * Calculates mean pH and aragonite saturation state for depth bands 100-300 m, 1400-2000 m and 2000-4000 m * Reprojects outputs to EPSG:3031 and writes separate multiband pH and aragonite GeoTIFFs 3. Run 03_extract_seafloor_pH_Ar.py from cwd * Selects the deepest valid SOCOML depth level within each native SOCOML grid cell * Aggregates IBCSO bathymetry to the SOCOML grid using median depth * Excludes cells deeper than the configured maximum seafloor depth (5,600 m + 200 m buffer) * Retains the native SOCOML EPSG:4326 grid and writes seafloor pH/aragonite, uncertainty, selected SOCOML depth and median IBCSO depth
